Where is Executive Director Phil Dryden?
Community Union is concerned that a Corus Executive Director, with responsibility for Teesside Cast Products is, according to the company, ‘on holiday’. Community Union understands that internal rumours in the company are rife and morale has suffered as a result.
Corus have today categorically denied that Phil Dryden has been suspended.
Community Union General Secretary Michael J. Leahy OBE said:
‘Everybody’s asking – “Where’s Phil?”. We’re concerned that at such a crucial time when we’re seeking to find an alternative future for Teesside, the Executive Director responsible for the plant is not to be found.
As the steelworkers on Teesside look to Corus for leadership, senior management seem content to rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic.
Community is asking Corus to prove that they are not in meltdown and to show clear and decisive leadership on the future not just of Teesside but of British Steelmaking as a whole.’
