Community – the union for life has successfully applied for money from the Union Modernisation Fund to undertake a new project Beyond the Workplace: Community in the community.
The project will begin on February 1st, and will be delivered in partnership with the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations (ACEVO). The main objective of the project will be to develop relationships and joint activities with voluntary and community sector organisations in South Yorkshire and the East Midlands. The joint activities will respond to the needs of vulnerable workers within the membership. These needs will be identified by a preliminary research and consultation exercise.
The project will also broaden the understanding that trade unions and organisations operating within the voluntary and community sector have of each other’s activities through the development of a joint training programme and a toolkit highlighting best practice in joint working.
The first meeting of the National Steering Group will take place next month. Watch this space for further details!
