New Plans for Glencraft

Community Union, which represents former Glencraft employees, has given a cautious welcome to news that a new social enterprise could be launched at the Glencraft factory site.

Community Union Regional Director, Heather Meldrum said:

‘The drive of our members and local supporters has helped get us to this stage. We’re hopeful that a genuinely sustainable social enterprise can emerge. The last thing our members want is for history to repeat itself and their livelihoods to be threatened again just one or two years down the line.

‘Clearly the devil will be in the detail of the plans and we look forward to meeting those involved, who must move as fast as practicable to get our members back to work.’
