Having active and engaged representatives within the workplace is at the core of effective trade unionism. The four delegates that accompanied the Deputy General Secretary to the JNC added weight to our arguments and supported the case that your union presented.
However, these members attended on an ‘ad hoc’ basis. There is a need to ensure that your staff representatives are elected, to guarantee that members are fairly represented in discussions with management.
There are also vacancies for health & safety representatives. This is important, as due to the relocation, many members will be working in unfamiliar environments.
Community Union H&S reps receive free, accredited training from their union as well as statutory legal powers in the workplace.
If you are interested in representing your colleagues as a workplace or H&S rep. please contact your regional office or visit your next regional branch meeting.
