Community Union steel workers to march for their jobs at the Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough.
Community Union members will stage a march
to protect jobs at Teesside Cast Products, the Corus steel plant. The march will
be held before the Middlesbrough/ Ipswich Town football match on Saturday,
September
12th.
Community Union National Officer for Steel Roy Rickhuss said:
“Middlesbrough Football Club is an important part of community life on Teesside in the same way as steelmaking has been a part of these communities for over a hundred years. Community Union would like to thank the Middlesbrough Football Club for supporting this very important campaign and ask everyone that attends the match to show your support for these steel workers.”
The ‘Save Our Steel’ campaign has the support of the Middlesbrough Football Club, and community Union members will be marching around the pitch before kick off to highlight their struggle to save steelmaking on Teesside. Middlesbrough players will also warm up in the ‘Save Our Steel’ campaign t-shirts before the match.
