Working for an independent betting shop can be stressful. Dealing with long hours, low pay and abusive customers can all take its toll. That is why Community is organising workers in the betting shops, to improve pay, conditions and safety for all staff.
Community has better ratio of full-time officers to members than any other union.
Community has focused on issues such as single staffing and the abuse of staff. This has made real differences in some areas where robberies and violent customers are frequent occurrences.
Community can help members that believe that safety issues are being ignored at their workplace. Community offers Health & Safety training to members or can advise on the best way to request a risk assessment.
