Member Service Centre

Advice, Support, Information and Communication

It is our great pleasure to announce that the Community Member Service Centre, based in Kidderminister, is now operational and is already taking calls. Your Service Centre is unique in the trade union movement, providing an integrated advice, support, information and communication service second to none.

Whatever your query, request, comment, or interest, you are now able to phone one number FREEPHONE 0800 389 6332—and speak to a trained adviser who will give you comprehensive advice there and then, research your issue and call you back, or transfer you to the appropriate union expert.

Your Service Centre will make the most of new technologies, and expect to see cutting edge initiatives such as online forums and mass emailing in the near future. We hope you get in touch and enjoy using this outstanding new Community service.

Your Service Centre offers…

  • Support and advice to all branch activists
  • Advice on grievance & disciplinary procedures
  • Updating member details and information
  • Guidance on health & safety problems
  • Advice relating to contracts and employment law
  • Information on union benefits
  • Advice on education & training opportunities
  • Member polling & surveying

Coming soon...

  • By Summer 2008 we will have established the facility to join the union online
  • Service Centre opening hours are set to be extended from 9am—5pm to 8am—8pm. However, when members need us the most the Centre will always operate flexible hours
  • Next year Community will trial online forums, enabling likeminded activists to network and share experiences and best practice
  • Next year the Service Centre will have the capacity to send mass text messages and voice messages, so that when an urgent issue arises, information reaches you as quickly as possible

Designed for you...

Community carried out a wide ranging consultation with members to establish exactly what you wanted from your union, and the Service Centre is a result of that dialogue. You spoke and we listened – this is YOUR Service Centre! This is a new and groundbreaking initiative, a first for the trade union movement, and we want to know what you think. We welcome your feedback and suggestions, and as always we will strive to accommodate your needs. In addition, the more information we have about you the better we can design services for you, so please complete and return the union census (which you can fill out and return via the Community website) and encourage others to do the same.
