On Wednesday, 14th January, John Biggs AM moved a motion in the Greater London Assembly in support of the Community Union campaign to improve standards and increase safety.

The motion noted with concern that there has been a 40% increase in violent attacks on betting shop employees in London during 2005-2007. This is a serious concern as it underlines the seriousness of the situation.
Community members are threatened, abused and assaulted across London on an almost daily basis with only the most serious incidents reported. The GLA motion calls upon local authorities to support the Community Union campaign and improve reporting and safety procedure across London.
