First Minister hears the voice of the Glencraft Community

Community Union representatives from Glencraft – the embattled supported employment factory in Aberdeen - presented First Minister Alex Salmond with a petition containing over 2,500 signatures from supporters of Glencraft in the local community on Thursday 10th December. The petition calls upon the Scottish Executive to honour the agreement made by the SNP/ Lib Dem council to keep Glencraft working.

Glencraft Workers meet with the First Minister

Workers from Glencraft travelled from Aberdeen to Holyrood to present the petition.

Supported by Local MSP’s Richard Baker and Lewis McDonald, Community Union Branch Secretary Andy Laing said:

‘I am calling on Alex Salmond and the other Party Leaders to listen to the voice of the Aberdeen community today. Over 2,500 people have signed this petition in support of Glencraft and its employees.

Everyone involved must re-double their efforts in seeking out any opportunity to deliver a sustainable social enterprise. I’d also like to thank Iain Gray and other MSP’s who have shown their support for Glencraft. We know that we have the support of our union, the support of our community and the support of the Scottish people.
