'Dress in Red day' organised by Ludwick Nursery School, in Hertfordshire saw its pupils wearing T-shirts they decorated in red themselves, thanks to a donation from Community.
Community union's central 4 branch at Community's head office bought 151 T-shirts for the nursery, helping them raise more than £100 for charity.
The Dress in Red Day was held to raise money for the school's chosen charity - the British Red Cross Society. The children had fun painting the T-shirts and then money was raised by parent's purchasing the T-shirts for the children to wear.
Says Michael Barnett, from head office who works at the central 4 branch: 'Our branch is keen to support community initiatives - we have assisted the Calthorpe Project in King's Cross, a multi-use green space on the Grays Inn Road - for four years. When we found out that the nursery wanted to sell T-shirts but couldn't afford to buy them we wanted to help.'
Christine Davidson, acting head of the Ludwick Nursery School said: 'We were so grateful to Community for their donation. It was a really good way to raise money because the children had such fun. We wouldn't have been able to hold the day if Community hadn't donated the T-shirts.'
'Dress in Red Day' took place in earlier this year and raised £116.19, every penny of which went to the British Red Cross Society.
