Community calls on Government to support UK Carpet Industry in preparing for the 2012 Olympics
Jenny Smith, Community Regional Director, has written to Rt. Hon. Andy Burnham, Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport, urging the Government to support the UK carpet industry, in the Country’s preparations for the 2012 Olympics.
The UK carpet industry, although very much diminished over recent years, still provides vital employment in the West Midlands, in particular to the Kidderminster area.
Community union believes that every effort should be made to ensure that all carpets and flooring for the 2012 Olympics should be sourced from within the UK, in order to support industry and protect British jobs.
