Community supports the TUC campaign to introduce an additional bank holiday in autumn.
Community day would recognise and celebrate the contribution to society made by volunteers and carers across Britain. Community day could be used to promote the excellent work done by charity and volunteer organisations while providing a much needed break between the Late Summer bank holiday in August and Christmas.
With only 8 bank holidays a year, Great Britain has less than Germany (9-13 depending on the state), France (10), Italy (13). In fact, the only EU state with fewer holidays than Great Britain is Romania.
