Community Union represents our membership at a number of events each year.

The Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival

Community sends a delegation to the festival to commemorate the first act of Trade Union action in Britain. Community Members participate in the march and carry the Community banner proudly.

The Labour Party Conference

Each year, a Community Delegation attends the Labour Party conference in order to ensure that our issues and concerns are heard and discussed by the highest levels in Government.

The TUC Congress

The TUC Congress brings together representatives of more than 6.5 million trade unionists from across the UK. Community attends to support the struggles of our comrades and to ask their support when defending our members.

Fringe Meetings at TUC Congress and Labour Party Conference

In 2008, Community took the opportunity to highlight a single issue at both TUC and Labour Party events. That issue was the increase in verbal and physical assaults upon Betting Shop staff.

National Action Week

Community designate one week each year when every member of the union, from the General Secretary down, is asked to spend their time recruiting new members and hosting events for potential members.

Community Union National Conference

Community hosts a national conference every two years. Delegates from every region attend to debate issues and concerns. The last conference was held in Bournemouth 2008. The next will be held in 2010.

Community Union Elections

The General Secretary and Deputy General Secretary positions are elected for 5 year terms. The last elections for these positions were in late 2008. The National Executive Council (NEC) are elected every two years, the next election is scheduled for 2010. President and Vice President are positions elected by the NEC.
