The Parliamentary Panel identifies talented Community Union members who wish to represent their communities at every level
Dear Colleagues,
In the past, Community has very effectively set up a Parliamentary Panel, and we have supported many candidates who have been successful in this process to stand in Parliamentary elections.
Since the change of government, we now need to re-establish the Parliamentary Panel, and I am writing to give branches notice that they should bring this to the attention of your members, and any of whom are Labour Party members and who wish to pursue a Parliamentary career should seriously consider applying to be a member of the Union’s Parliamentary Panel.
Applications forms are available upon request to: Joe Mann MBE, Deputy General Secretary & Political Officer, who will also give further advice and guidance to any members wishing to apply.
The Interviewing Committee itself will consist of the current President, one of the Union’s Trustees and Joe Mann. This Committee will be convened at anytime there are enough applications to justify doing so. Members who have submitted the application form will be summoned to the Panel and interviewed.
The name of any member who is successful will then be submitted to the Labour Party and, as a consequence of our affiliation to the Party, that member will then be automatically included on the Labour Party’s Parliamentary Panel, and that endorsement will greatly assist in any selection process.
We believe this process is crucially important to the future of the Union and the Labour Movement, as it is very necessary to ensure that we have parliamentarians who come from a working and Trade Union background.
Previous successful applicants do need to re-apply, as we do need to set up a new Panel.
Please find an application form here:

We look forward to receiving applications from your branch accordingly.
