National Executive Council
Community is a union responsible to its members. The governing body of Community is the National Executive Council which is elected every three years.
The Council is comprised of 15 regional seats which are distributed amongst the regions according to membership numbers which are elected by all working members within that region.
There are also 3 seats reserved for women. These are distributed across the regions and are elected by all working members in the relevant region.
There is also 1 seat reserved for ethnic minority members, and 1 seat for members with a disability.
The National Executive Council elects a President and Vice President.
Our Current President is Keren Bender (l).
Our Current Vice President is Gareth Davies (r).
Keren worked for over 30 years at the Llanwern Plant in South Wales and is currently a Union Learning Rep at the Port Talbot Steel Works.
Gareth is a member from our NLBD section and is the first blind member to hold a senior position within the union.
