“London needs a fresh response to the challenges we face and I believe I can be the mayor to provide it. As the Government threatens the services we rely on, our schools, our police, our housing it’s important to have a candidate who can challenge them, champion London and provide creative solutions to the cuts they will impose.
“We need solutions on housing like the ‘Mayor’s Mortgage’ I’m proposing to help people get on the ladder. We need community policing and family support to prevent our children going off the rails and getting caught up in crime at a younger and younger age. And we need a Mayor who will promote and protect jobs.
“Labour lost the Mayoral election in 2008 and Londoners paid the price. We cannot afford to let Boris win again. A new candidate with fresh ideas on the big issues that matter to Londoners will have a much better chance of kicking the Tories out of City Hall and give the Labour Party the spring board it needs to get David Cameron and Nick Clegg out of Downing Street.
