TUC Congress 2009 Liverpool
Community Union has sent as delegation to the 2009 TUC Congress, held in Liverpool.
Community Union President Gareth Davies welcomed the delegates to the Congress at a function held on the Saturday night. The guest of honour was TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber who praised the innovative community unionism being developed by our union.
One of the priorities for Community to raise at this Congress was the plight of the workers at TCP. Community Union members from TCP visited the congress on Tuesday. These members displayed their 'Save Our Steel' banner while General Secretary Michael J. Leahy moved a motion in support that recieved the backing of the TUC.
