Palestine - Give for Gaza Appeal

TUC Aid is appealing for contributions to support emergency humanitarian relief for the people of Gaza following the offensive by the Israeli Army.

Nearly 1,000 people including a large number of children have been killed in the military operations. Gaza is confronted with an unprecedented medical crisis. Hospitals are unable to cope with the increasing number of casualties. Thousands of Palestinians are in dire need of emergency aid - food, water, shelter and medicine. Many more have been made homeless as a result of the clashes between the Israeli Army and Hamas militiamen. Recent events have compounded the existing problems in Gaza which have left thousands unemployed and in dire need of essential supplies and regular power.

Support the humanitarian relief effort

70% of Palestinians live below the poverty line and a third of the workforce is unemployed. The Israeli occupation makes it impossible for a normal economy to function, with roadblocks, illegal settlements and the wall in the West Bank and the blockade of Gaza, and on top of that the Palestine General Federation of Trade Unions (PGFTU) has suffered attacks by Hamas. You can help the PGFTU to strengthen workers’ awareness of their employment rights, help women to organise and play a full part in the unions, as well as build the PGFTU’s youth and media departments.

£50 will pay a trainer for a day to run workshops on organising, health and safety, bargaining and more.
