Thai Steelmaker interested in TCP

Corus must come clean over SSI's interest in TCP

Steel union Community has called on Corus to come clean over apparent interest from Thai steel company SSI in Teesside Cast Products.

Community Union understands that SSI visited the TCP plant last Thursday but the union is in the dark as to whether or not SSI have made a formal bid for the business.

Michael J Leahy, General Secretary, said:

“Community Union wants Corus to come clean about what is going on.  Thousands of jobs depend on finding an alternative future for Teesside Cast Products.  The rumour mill just creates more uncertainty for the workforce and their families – it’s a disgrace that Corus is keeping everyone in the dark over this issue and treating the people of Teesside with contempt."
