A ‘Save Our Steel’ flag will be flown above Redcar and Cleveland Town Hall tomorrow Tuesday 19th January, at 8.30am. This act will symbolise the support for workers of Teesside Cast Products. Teesside Cast Products has been operating on a month to month basis since the collapse of an off-take agreement in 2009.
Community Union Campaign manager Tom Blenkinsop said:
‘Flying the flag shows that spirits are still high on Teesside. The good news that TCP will continue for a number of weeks will give more time to find an alternative to mothballing.
‘Flying the flag at the council Town Hall shows the workers at TCP that the entire community is backing their struggle, from local Unison members working in local public services, to local businesses, the council and our local members of Parliament.’
