ULR of the year, Audrey McJimpsey was given a private tour of Parliament
Community Union Learning Representative Audrey McJimpsey recently visited the UK Parliament at Westminster as part of her award as the recent recipient of the Helen Dowie Award for Lifelong Learning (STUC Learner Rep of the Year Award) which she won in March 2008.
Audrey was accompanied to Westminster by her Aunt, Sheila Lindsay, and they were escorted throughout the day by her local MP Jim Hood. Audrey also met Speaker of the House of Commons Michael Martin MP who gave them a personally guided tour of his private quarters. Audrey was also seated in the Speakers Gallery for Prime Ministers Question Time, had Tea on the Terrace and was also able to visit no. 10 Downing Street.
Audrey is the Community Union Learning Rep for RSBi Springburn in Glasgow and since taking up this role in November 2006 has encouraged over 70% of the workforce within RSBi to take up learning opportunities. Audrey was presented with her award by Prime Minister Gordon Brown during STUC Annual Congress in March 2008.
